Shite pimp - a bitch ass special

Friday August 11, 2006

Look at this guy’s shite… errr.. I meant site, sorry. Now tell me how his client could ever even believe that he was capabale of producing this shite here… sorry did I say shite again.. I meant site of course.

I have mailed them both pointing out the unfortunate copyright error on their shites but to no avail.

Comments are, of course, on.

Hey, what are the chances of that?
That site looks just like yours … ;-)

They obviously missed your You may not use my design post.

You have all the luck, John. I hope they pull it quickly, or stop pulling it, or … something.

wow – thats a rip off if ever I saw one! – I like it how his totally missed the point of the transparency when his merged from your original 2 column design to the one column design – there is a nice pure white background… I would like to see his response to your email!

You should copy the butterflies… as a REVENGE!!!

    Good luck.

You are everso naughty, copying that poor Turkish boy like that… tut tut!

  7. Craig

    Hmmm… there’s this too. Weird.

    A rip of a rip? Whoa… that’s deep.

I still find it funny that people think they can get away with stealing designs from ‘famous’ websites.

    Will they ever learn?

  9. J Phill

That’s just flat out pathetic. He made no attempt to make that his own design.

i believe you all need new glasses … if you look at the code you will notice that turkish site is using tables and is being generated using MSHTML 6.00.2600.0 …

    :)

If it’s any use to you, “fuck off” in Turkish is “siktirgit” (pronounced “sick-tear-git”). “bastard” is “piç” (pron: “peach”).

    The best insult is “ibne”.

So email and say “Siktirgit! Sen bir ibne”.

Let no-one say it’s not useful, squandering two years in Turkish bar.

  13. Steven Clark

    an uncanny deja vu naturally…

That qualifies as one thing, and one thing only:
    what a piece of shite!

That guy deserves a can of whoop ars… or a simpel sitehack to the both of them. The nerve some people have by using other people’s design and claming it;s their own with a nice piece of f*cking copyright under it… makes you wanna go barf a little.

And have you seen the 1pt #fff bunch of text at the bottom of the page? As well as an excellent designer, it seems he has his SEO skills as well.

  16. Brandon

lol, “Holy Shite” that actually kinda shocked me.

  17. cory

That is just LUDICROUS! I’m glad you can find it funny instead of flipping your shite.

I never had you down for nicking other fuckers’ ideas Oxton.

  20. Mark

Haha, the cheek. A similar thing happened to a web designer I know. Some American designer copied his site, same font size, same CSS structure, same images, same everything.

Luckily enough people abused the sucker and he eventually crumbled.

It’s the price you pay for being pretty John … ;)

I say we all start abusing the websites and bring them to their knees. Any thoughts on how to abuse them systematically.

I am in need for revenge.

  23. Jesse Skinner

    How’d you find that??

This reminds me of the first web shop I worked for.. it was policy that our designer would steal designs from other sites. “The Internet is so big, they’ll never find us”.

That ended quickly when one of the copied web sites found us. I was always amazed how fast that happened.

  24. Timbo

I suppose you could always give Interflora a bell to see if they mind one of their outlets using ripped material….

  25. Marko

    LOL ,Rip :=)

Those butterflys aren’t to bad :D

  26. Biomech

I must say, that is a very sad attempt. Anyone who browses the web could tell that Mr. Oxton created that design. We live in a sad sad world.

I’m gonna refresh the page a couple hundred times ‘cause I like it so much. =D

    Comments are, of course, on.

You really meant, Comments are of course on so you can all stroke my ego. Otherwise you can all fuck off, I dont want to hear from you.

  28. Graham Bancroft

Tony, why would we want to stroke your ego?

  29. John Oxton

    I think Tony is lonely.

  30. Graham Bancroft

Lonely, surely he has pam and her five sisters?

  31. Malarkey

Blimey, what are the chances of that happening. Two top designers come up with the same flowers, who would have thought it?

  32. Bramus!

Another site that I find very oxton-like is http://www.peminoz.com/

The flow of the site – set by the background image – is nearly exactly the same and the CSS is also built after this site its CSS (order by which the selectors are declared, many selectors have the same properties applied, and the last part commented out is an exact copy of the “livesearch results” part of John’s CSS) ...

    It’s not a direct copy, but certainly a mental / look-and-feel copy.

    B!

  33. BigA

    Oh dude.

  34. Biomech

Wait… how do we know if John didn’t go into the future and copy off this guys work? =O

  35. Miha Hribar

John you copycat you, the least you could’ve done is copy those butterflys as well :))

  36. lm

ye lets have butterflies here as well. And John’s photo with a pipe on a right.

  37. Matt Townsend

Oooh, I’ve got the urge to download some of the beautiful 0.5mb photographs on his site, that were oh-so obviously taken by himself (with such masterful use of the clone tool over copyright labels) – such a man of talent / low moral stature he surely is!

unfortunately, with my knackered hand, i may have to resort to some kind of automated tool – and I’ve never been any good at getting out of infinite loops – oh well, needs must

p.s. Can we burn him as a witch? Or at least do the pond test? I bet he weighs more than a duck!

  38. Kishore

    Oh dear.

And I suppose you found out through the referrers?

  39. Devlin Palmer

Even left the blue outline on the content box..

  40. Monjurul Dolon

As mentioned in the recent 5thirtyone perpatraitor thread, “imitation is the greatest form of flattery.”

Your site is very unique and beautiful and serves as a great form of inspiration. However, it should remain as such – inspiration – not to be directly imitated. Best of luck dealing with these guys!

  41. cha

It’s not easy to have a nice layout! Your design has been ripped off so many times, the last has been published but then disqualified in wp themes, and now this. That turkish thinks that nobody would find this out or what? Hehe!

Hope he’ll answer ur email and apologise!

Actually, it’s Mr. Radenkovic’s world, Mr. Oxton just lives in it with the rest of us. ;)

Actually, it’s Mr. Radenkovic’s world, Mr. Oxton just lives in it with the rest of us. ;)

Ahh this old chestnut… well I’ve been down this road before I am not going to bother again.

    It’s like bellbottoms, man. ;)

Anyway, no disrespect at all. I’m just thinking you probably have pup readers all the time who don’t know the score. Hell, maybe I don’t know the score.

  47. Jeremy

The ones mentioned in SUPER MARIO’s post above are legitimate rip offs of your artwork.

The one you mentioned in your actual post is weak. So anyone who uses any kind of floural design which wraps around the left side of a centered div… is forever copying your site? hmm.

  48. John Oxton

No Jeremy, the graphic has been CHANGED! The CSS is still ripped though, it has my comments in it…

And just to answer your question, NO I DO NOT call out anyone who uses floral design.

  49. Neil

Forget the flowers, did he give himself a drop shadow? Dear me.

  50. Tony

Obviously I was quoting what Oxton said in his original post.

He normally doesnt allow comments on his posts, but when someone rips his design, he allows comments. Why? So you can all stroke his ego and tell him how wonderful his design is.

Other than that, he doesnt wish to hear from any of his readers.
